8 Sun Valley Sun Aug 24 1989 Wolf Creek By GAIL CLONNINGER Dennis and Cherly Kalian and Rich and John Palmer spent a couple days at Lake Francis near Valicr fishing John was the first one to catch a pike However they all caught some before coming home The Dave Youngs are home after driving to the Edmonton Alta Mall and touring the Calgary Alta Zoo They did a lot of other sightseeing Bonnie's mother and sister and children went along too Robin and Lawni Fredricksen Vera Corrigan and Tanner Cloninger spent a couple days at the Columbia Falls waterslide Tanner thought for sure he would drown but after a few minutes he calmed down and had a good lime They also walked through the mare taking them about 45 minutes They returned home on Wednesday via the south boundary of Glacier National Park Lawni will be participating in the Liule Cowboys Rodeo in Chinook Friday night Her events are goat ribbon tying and barrel racing TEAM ROPING Be sure to saddle up the old pony and attend the team granddaughter of Bob and Helen Dcllwo flew by plane from Billings Aug 14 to spend a week at Bowman's Comer with her parents Jamey and Greg are moving to Scobey where he has taken a job as administrator at the hospital They had lived in Red Lodge previously Jamey planned to lake time out last Monday to celebrate her birthday The rain showers we have been having sure keep the grass growing the hayers cussing and harasses satellite dishes and receivers due to lightning Lightning struck Loucille Romberg's house burning the wall and sheets on her bed It gave her a terrible headache and terrified the granddaughter Balls of fire were dancing on both sides of Loucille Bowman's Comer also lost its receiver and the Dcllwos have to have work done on their TV dish FIREMEN BUSY The Wolf Creek Volunteer Fire Department has responded to eight Tires and 10 medical emergencies The volunteers thank all those making donations since the department is not lax supported and exists only through gifts The department's two fund raisers each year are the Wild Game Feed and the Pancake Supper Those in need of medical assistance or are reporting a Tire members can be paged by calling the Lewis and Clark County Sheriffs Department at 442-7880 Nine pagers are circulated among the volunteers and plans are to purchase more The department recently purchased two self-contained breathing apparatuses that allow firefighters to enter smoke-Tilled structures The next improvement they would like to make is to add dual wheels to the 1976 Tire truck and a utility bed so gear can be stored inside and kept clean Jim and Jean Cloninger of Lincoln and son Gary and Peggy attended a Cloninger family reunion last weekend near Jackson Hole Wyo They returned home on Sunday Dearborn Gary and Belly Murphy returned last Sunday from Rochester Minn where Gary had an appointment with a doctor While there they did some sightseeing too Herf Ingersoll and A1 Young were in Lewistown last weekend playing golf in a member-guest tournament Al is a member of the Lewistown Country Club where they played Herf won a prize for the sinking the longest putt At Augusta Trail Day Aug 12 Barb McDonough Rob McDonough Lou Romberg and myself were in the parade on the Lewis and Clark (Expedition) float You don't see much when you are part of a parade but what I saw of it I thought it was a nice parade THOMPSONS CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY Frank and Fay Thompson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug 12 at Rittel's lodge on the Blacktail Ranch All four of the Thompson children were there including daughter Nancy Johnson and her family from Dillon Tommy and his wife from Helena Artie and his family and Ken and wife bom the Wolf Creek There was lots of good food and LEGION AUXILIARY BATEMAN Services were last Saturday at the Sun River LDS Church for Tina Hazel (Fleming) Bateman 86 of Sun River Burial was in the Sun River Cemetery The long-time nurse died Aug 16 at a Great Falls nursing home She was bom in Panoka Alberta and as a child moved with her parents to the Fort Shaw area where they homesteaded She graduated from Fort Shaw High School and attended business college in Great Falls She later completed nursing school and worked for Columbus Hospital for more than IS years She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints She married Chancy "Shorty" Bateman in 1942 in Great Falls In 19887 they sealed their marriage in the LDS temple in Cardston Alta She was preceded in death by a son Survivors are her husband children Mrs Charley (Lillian F) Watson of Fairfield Kenneth Fender of North Salt Lake City Utah Phillip Fender of Belt brother Vernon Fleming of Great Falls 11 grandchildren 40 great-grandchildren visiting with friends and relatives Sonny Stigcr provided music for dancing in the evening The Thompson children and grandchildren put on a skit on the life of Frank and Fay John Tuomi was down from Alaska for the 20th class reunion in Augusta He came out to our ranch to visit one day John used to work here a few years ago Barb and Norm McDonough look a trip around the Kalispcll area and played golf in a few different places I attended the Blackfoot Valley Art Auction at the 7 Up Supper near Lincoln Aug 11-12 I didn't buy any art but had a good time visiting with friends This is a money raiser for the Valley Medical Clinic and raised $35899 this year Milt and Bcv Ingersoll took off in their motor home and toured Glacier National Park with some friends last week Wednesday Milt had hay down but it was too wet Thus die
